Week closes up

Icant believe it’s already Thursday one more day and the week is over! I spent the day drawing my Duncan Phyfe drum table. I have loved it. Tweaking the curves and all the beading on it. I have some small details left to add to it and it will be finished. Then I have to draw the infamous carved frame and panel blanket chest that Tommy Mac made popular among the mainstream. We also had a lecture today from all 3 teachers on lathe safety. This afternoon dan gave us a lecture on woodscience with info on drying lumber and the differences on kiln and air drying. My class also got briefed on the swing saw. I had honestly only heard of these. Although they seem incredibly dangerous in theory it was actualy a rather smooth machine to use. Not a tool for accuracy by any means but one for rough dimensioning fast. With this saw we cut ourselves each a rough 4/4 poplar block that we will flatten and thickness by hand!
